Hello, Spooksters!
I'm stoked to be able to finally give you a little peek inside the first ever spook box! Now, every box had different items and no two items were the same (except for the prints and the Airheads), so keep in mind this is just an idea of what came in each box.
June's theme was... the clown.
Here's a little breakdown of the items included.

This box is an idea of what comes in the Poltergeist plan, our middle tier subscription.
Included is one deluxe object, three small objects, one art print, and the month's story. As I will with every box, I added a little extra stuff to really complete the box. This month I added some hair from a clown wig, a candle engraved with the names of one or more of Gacy's victims and dedicated to their memory, and some Airheads to add a little something sweet after the harshness of the stories. The box was lined with some fabric scraps and some of the more delicate items had some extra fabric wrapping for protection through shipping (along with packing paper).
Each box had one or more (depending on the level of subscription) clown figurines/dolls. For a few of the clowns, I added a bit of painting detail to the faces or did minor repairs (including fixing a broken, hidden music box inside of one), but the majority of the objects this month I felt needed no alteration. ESPECIALLY the ones I chose to feature in this post. This box went to someone special to my heart and someone who has respect and love for haunted dolls. Yeah, you read that right. The large clown doll in this box gave me.... some feels. I didn't alter her one bit -- she came with her DIY flowery cheeks and painted nose, her one hand-stitched cloth shoe, and her outfit that seemed very obviously like it wasn't the outfit the doll had originally worn.

Also, side note, while trying to edit and add the photos I had taken, I noticed that ALL of the close-up shots of BOTH dolls in this box were blurry, no matter what I did. Literally all of them. I did an entire photo shoot, guys.
Along with this lovely lady, many of the dolls I was able to get my paws on for this month came from one person's collection. They were sold during an estate sale after the owner had passed away. So, take what you will from that.
This wasn't the only clown to give me real intense creepy vibes this month, and things for me were noticeably different when I had gathered them all together in my living room, preparing the boxes for shipment.
(P.S. She is holding in her lap the month's story, tied with string and sealed with wax by yours truly.)

I had to do a good 'ol zoom-n-crop for this little guy because she apparently REFUSES to let my camera focus on her.
I intended on painting small triangles around her eyes to give her more of a clown vibe, but the second I picked her up to do so, I immediately got an intention sensation of "nope, nope, nope, nope, nope".
So, she got sent in her original spooky glory.
As tiny as this doll was, she definitely had the most intense "presence" of them all. So much so that I wouldn't have sent her to someone if I wasn't so sure she'd be respected and just left to exist in her own little space.
It honestly was not my intention to find items that might feel "haunted" or tormented in some way, but I guess when you go looking for spook the spook will find you.
The boxes this month also included a unique, old metal frame with a small spooky print of one of my paintings behind the glass, a hand selected old stuffed animal dedicated to the victims of one of the clowns from the month's stories, a print of one of my paintings, and my monthly media recommendations.
My entertainment recommendations for the month are:
Song: Aition by Windhand
Lyrics: Goodnight my child, goodnight
Sweet dreams before the light
Goodnight my child, for the darkness has come
Goodnight my child, goodnight
Dream of my emerald eyes
Dream of my emerald eyes
The summer has gone and so soon shall be I
Dream of my emerald eyes
The snake will have its day
The sun will burn away
On a sea of tears your cradle will sway
Above my cursed grave
No matter big or small
What rises surely will fall
When you have learned you are nothing at all
From the dark you'll crawl
Goodnight my child, goodnight
Make sure your sleep is light
Be warm of heart and fierce of fight
And keep the fire alive
Keep the fire alive
Movie: Freaks (1932)
Short Story: The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
The last thing in the box was the story for the month. Now, this month's ran a little long. As I kept reading through it to try to make it shorter for you guys, there wasn't anything I felt I could take out without compromising some of the victims' stories and honor. I summarized the stories of two true evil "clowns", John Wayne Gacy, Jr. and Amon Paul Carlock, Jr. for this month. At the end of the stories, I left a link with a QR code for you to check out a "hidden" page on my website that had photos, videos, and other media related to the cases. I won't be talking about the cases more here, but I'll be uploading the full stories for all to read in a separate post here soon! I will also be posting some detailed images of the month's print and some backstory as to the meaning behind the painting. Make sure you sign up for emails below or subscribe to a plan today so you don't miss these updates!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has supported me my first month. It has been amazing, stressful, spooky, exhausting, and I've learned more about myself and my passions already. I can't wait to see what the future has in store and I hope that one of you has gained something for yourself during this process!
I love you all,
Emma, The Grand Master of Spook
